About the Role
Are you a Master student with past hands-on experience in a biomedical lab, and interested in a 4-6 month long industrial internship in the bioprinting and vascularization area? Would you like to work in an international, small-scale environment with large societal impact?
Then we have an opportunity for an interesting internship project for students enrolled in Dutch universities.
Project description:
The proposed internship project will focus on developing an automation compatible manufacturing protocol for a perfusable vascularized tissue construct.
In this internship, your tasks will include:
• Developing techniques to 3D print hydrogels of interest over pre-assembled thermo-responsive sacrificial bioink constructs.
• Developing a feasibility study where pre-assembled constructs are seeded with GFP-HUVECs before bioprinting a hydrogel on top, followed by washing out the sacrificial ink, enabling perfusion of a cell-lined channel.
• Adding cardiomyocytes and/or fibroblasts in the printed hydrogel around the endothelial-lined perfusable channel, and assessing the interaction between the perfusion channel and the surrounding cells.
